The CD, "Sail Away," is a labor of love that has spanned 25 years
before finally being released. The music and lyrics are the work of the
Tumbledown duo composed of Alan Collins and Scott Swan.
If "Sail Away" reminds the listener of the great bands and artists of
the late 60's to middle 70's, with touches of R & B, Soul, Funk, Blues
and Jazz, that's because the duo was influenced by the music they grew up
listening to, and music Scott has been performing in Florida for the last
ten years.
Alan and Scott are from East Wilton, Maine, and have been friends
since early childhood. Both began playing guitar in their early teens and
played in several bands during high school. They never performed in the
same band, but would get together and jam frequently, which led them to
writing songs collectively.
After high school, Alan stayed in Maine and got married. Scott joined
the Air Force and worked in the Pentagon for the next six years. They went
several years without seeing one another, but when they got together, they
picked up where they left off in regards to the friendship and music.
In the summer of 2003, Scott and Alan started focusing on some of the
songs they had written over the years, both jointly and apart, and began
making plans to record a CD.

In the summer of 2005, they recorded the entire guitar, bass and vocal
tracks for all the songs on "Sail Away." Alan spent the next year and a
half, in his spare time, overdubbing backing vocals and additional
percussion, and a lot of mixing and re-mixing. The only thing lacking was
drums.
Alan found a drummer who was willing to do the work and the project
was finally completed. It was mastered, pressed and released. The song
arrangements are simple and not over produced. It basically lets the
listener feel like they are listening to a couple of guys jamming in their
living room.
Two of Tumbledown's songs were included on the soundtrack for the
Windows RPG Shady O'Grady's Rising Star. Two songs have been featured on
Compilation CD's.
"The Right Thing To Do" is on as Oasis Sampler and "Memories" is on
Apache Rose's Best New Bands, Volume 2. The CD can be purchased from CD
Baby.
Because Scott and Alan live so far apart and both have full time jobs,
Tumbledown is not currently touring. However, plans are already in the
works for a future CD, and the possibility of some future live shows,
probably on the coffee house circuit and some larger venues if available.
